Andrew Funk, Bass
April 27, 2004: Just got this page up and running! It has been a busy year already, so it is nice to have a little break right now. I finished Die Frau ohne Schatten at LA Opera in March, and have been flying back and forth to New York for auditions. In less than six weeks now, I will be driving with my wife Amy out to Santa Fe, where I'll be performing Don Pedro in Beatrice and Benedict. It will be SO nice to be back at Santa Fe--I was an apprentice there in 1996 & 1997. From Santa Fe I fly to Chicago, where I will be singing the King in Aida with Lyric Opera. Ah, Chicago...who knows, maybe Amy and I will live there again in the future. In the meantime, here's hoping that the Cubbies have a good season!
September 22, 2004: I am in Chicago, rehearsing Rheingold and beginning Aida soon. Amy and I have a little one on the way, and I can't wait for her to arrive! Hopefully, she will be an opera baby. I am in Chicago for most of the season, taking a break in December for the birth of our baby and in late February/early March to fly to Anchorage and sing Commendatore. Thank about it..I leave Chicago in the heart of winter, only to fly someplace COLDER! Ah yes..but next summer I will spend in Seattle. Should be a beautiful summer..
February 17, 2005: Our daughter Madeline Lucie is almost six weeks old! Fatherhood is a wonderful thing. I am just about to leave for Anchorage for three weeks, and then I am back to Chicago for a few more weeks of Wagner. After Seattle this summer, I am back in Chicago next season for Magic Flute, Rigoletto, and The Midsummer Marriage.
